Involvement with the Workers’ Party

Alia joined as a volunteer in March/April 2024. As part of a ground team, she participated in weekly house visits, distributing WP pamphlets and engaging residents on concerns and feedback

She also helped to organise the distribution of Ramadan porridge towards rental block households.

Alia was part of the organising committee for the Kaki Bukit Hari Raya 2025 event.

Vision for Singapore

Alia hopes to see a more balanced system of government — one where policies are debated, and opposing views taken into account, especially when they reflect the views of average Singaporeans. As a fourth-generation Singaporean, this is the only homeland she, her parents, and her grandparents have ever known. She wants the same for her children — for them to want to be, and continue being, Singaporean.

Alia sees the policies the Workers’ Party wishes to introduce, and the hard questions WP MPs ask in Parliament, as well thought-out and not oppositional for the sake of it. She feels the questions WP raises in Parliament reflect the voices on the ground — and that this is precisely what elected officials ought to do.

Philosophy and Passions

Alia believes that the future lies in the hands of the next generation, and believes that it is very important to bring up a generation of empathetic, honest and compassionate youths who will understand their roles as global citizens.

Alia takes on many roles, but the one that she identifies with the most and that she feels has shaped who she is today is that of motherhood - so challenging but yet so rewarding. As a full-time working mother, and like many other parents, she wants only the best for her children. She places her hope in the next generation — but believes it’s up to us to create the right environment for them to succeed.

Alia’s comfort zone lies in the familiar - to challenge herself she tries new things and experiences. Most recently, she signed up for the gym and tries to regularly attend. During her free time she also tries to catch up on reading the many books she optimistically purchases.
