Lue Ping is currently serving as a Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), a position he has held since 2025. In this role, he works closely with child and adolescent patients, particularly those dealing with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder, at the Child Guidance Clinic.

Prior to 2025, Lue Ping held various senior leadership positions at IMH.   From 2022 to 2024, he served as Director of Allied Health, overseeing 10 Allied Health Professional groups such as psychologists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Prior to that, he was Head of the Psychology Department. He also led the development and implementation of new psychological services and programs that supported the hospital's care transformation and addressed national needs.  Since 2020, Lue Ping has been a faculty member at the National Health Group Institute of Healthcare Quality, where he contributes to the Clinical Practice Improvement Program, assisting with course evaluations, content reviews, and the training of faculty members.

For his professional contributions, Lue Ping was awarded the National Awards 2023 Commendation Medal (COVID-19), the Healthcare Humanity Award 2017 and National Day Awards 2014 Commendation Medal.

Lue Ping has also contributed his expertise as a volunteer in various capacities.  These include being on the Youth Court as a Panel Adviser, serving on the Ministry of Education National Advisory Council’s COMPASS (Community and Parents in Support of Schools) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Alliance for Action (AfA) focused on parenting.  He also served for two years as a Voluntary Special Constable with the Singapore Police Force.

Involvement with the Workers’ Party

Lue Ping has been a volunteer with the Workers’ Party since November 2023, contributing as a case writer at the Hougang Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS) and assisting with various community events, including various Chinese New Year dinners, Mothers’ Day and National Day grassroot distributions, Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, and other food distribution events. He has also been involved with house visits for WP’s East Coast and Punggol GRC teams.

Vision for Singapore

As a psychologist, Lue Ping is deeply aware of the risks of groupthink. One of his greatest concerns is the impact of groupthink within Singapore's highest decision-making bodies, which he believes has affected ordinary Singaporeans. He is aligned with the Workers' Party’s conviction that there is a need for more Singaporeans who are willing to speak truth to power, particularly on issues such as the rising cost of living, and the affordability and accessibility of housing and healthcare.

After serving in public healthcare for over two decades, helping patients overcome their struggles, he feels a deeper calling to do more for Singapore. With his extensive experience as a psychologist, he is ready to step forward with the Workers’ Party to help address the daily struggles of fellow Singaporeans in Parliament.

Philosophy and Passions

Lue Ping believes in leading through service- putting what matters to the person first, listening with empathy, co-creating solutions and standing up for those without a voice. For him, helping people solve their problems and improve their wellbeing is deeply satisfying.

Lue Ping is passionate about Singapore football and his dream is to watch Singapore play in the World Cup.
