Career and Education
Louis is a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Rivervale Division of Sengkang GRC, having served since 2020. He is also the Media Head on the Central Executive Committee of the Workers' Party (WP). In addition to his parliamentary duties, Louis works as an Equity Analyst at an international bank.
He holds two Bachelor’s degrees from Singapore Management University (SMU) – a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Bachelor of Business Management, both summa cum laude. Louis is also a Chartered Accountant of Singapore, an ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant, and a CFA® Charterholder. In 2024, he furthered his qualifications by completing the Chief Financial Officer Programme at SMU-ExD Executive Development.
Involvement with the Workers’ Party
Louis has been an active member of the Workers’ Party, contributing as a Member of Parliament for Sengkang GRC since 2020. As MP, he is committed to advocating for his residents, raising Parliamentary Questions on a wide range of issues, and making significant contributions to the discourse in the 14th Parliament. He has been one of the most active Parliamentarians, raising Adjournment Motions on expanding rental housing options, lowering the BTO eligibility age for singles to 28, and advocating for employees' right to Flexible Work Arrangements. Additionally, Louis seconded the “Cost of Living Crisis” Motion filed by the Leader of the Opposition, Pritam Singh.
Concurrently, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Sengkang Town Council, further strengthening his role in local governance.
Vision for Singapore
Louis joined the Workers' Party to show his fellow Singaporeans that opposition politics is not something to fear, and that everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of Singapore. He believes that through collective efforts, we can build a Singapore that reflects the values of fairness, inclusivity, and opportunity for all.
Louis advocates for a culture of open-mindedness, where the government and civil service recognise the value of alternative viewpoints in making the best decisions for Singapore. He believes that a balanced parliament is essential for enhancing accountability and transparency in government decision-making, ensuring that all voices are heard and that policies are designed to serve the collective good.
Philosophy and Passions
Louis believes that it may be tempting to take the easy path in life, but we only live once. It is important for all of us to forge a meaningful path that shapes us into the person we aspire to be, and the best version of ourselves.
Louis is married with two energetic boys and a Cavapoo puppy, who the boys affectionately call their “mei mei” or little sister. Family is at the heart of all that he does, and he is deeply committed to creating a Singapore where every Singaporean can thrive, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Louis also enjoys singing and was the president of the Music Interactive Club (known as the “karaoke club”) in university. In his younger days, wakeboarding was one of his favourite pastimes.
